Events vary in purpose, from providing support and guidance to older residents during the winter season, to promoting work, education and voluntary opportunities to younger residents. A brief overview of some of the events we provided as follows:
A highlight of the events calendar is the Active Residents Awards. This event honours the members of the community who strive to make a positive impact in their local community. The event takes place in April, by invitation only due to space limitations.
Youth Involvement Day
Taking place in June, this event is a valuable forum to provide younger residents with information on training, education, apprenticeship, work and voluntary opportunities that are available to them. The event is especially tailored to residents aged 16 – 25, and brings together public, charity and other organisations throughout the borough.
Summer Fun Days
Each year Hackney Council host a number of fun days within local communities. Events are located in different neighbourhood areas each year to ensure that our as many residents as possible benefit from the information and opportunities provided at them. Events occur during the July – August period and include fun activities for all the family.
Leaseholder & Freeholder Open Day
This event is aimed at the many leaseholders and freeholders who make up a significant portion of Hackney Council residents. The event occurs in September/October.
Winter Warmer Event
One of our most popular events, the Wither Warmer takes place in December and is aimed at residents over the age of 55. The purpose of the event is to provide these residents with information on how to keep warm, healthy and active during the winter months. It also showcases many opportunities available to residents such as training courses.
