Hackney Councils New Free Opportunities

Hackney Council have a range of free opportunities delivered by qualified and experienced leaders who will help you get the most from your sessions:
o   The New Age Games programme autumn programme of sporting activities is to start week beginning 1st September 2015. The free Council-run scheme is designed to give Hackney residents aged over 50 years a chance to socialise, exercise and stay healthy. Participants can try a variety of sports including swimming, cycling, archery and Pilates, tennis, badminton, chair-based activity, yoga and much more visit www.hackney.gov.uk/new-age-games or see attached publicity. o   Our Parks- group exercise sessions are taking place at indoor and venues across the borough within parks and community centres. Activities include hula hoop fitness, bootcamp. box fit, yoga, tag rugby and much more. o   Walking-together - Join us for free regular health and themed walks as we explore the local area, meet new people and reap the health and wellbeing benefits of being outdoors and active.
 
Themed Walk - Abney Park - Saturday 26th September, 11.00am -12.30pm
 
o   Explore Hackney's historic cemetery and nature reserve and discover the importance of green spaces to London. From religious dissenters to inventors, from fungi to wildlife, explore this unique part of the capital and learn just how much its people and its biodiversity has contributed to modern London. Meeting point: Abney Park Cemetery main gates, Stoke Newington High St, London N16 0LH. A minimum of one themed walk is delivered each month.

o   Fit 4 Health – Exercise after Stroke/TIA scheme is an established free community based service positioned at the final stage of rehabilitation and re-enablement in health and social care. It supports individuals in the maintenance of healthy lifestyle changes and the subsequent transition to independent living. The programme is designed to meet the long-term effects of stroke and the varied and wide-ranging exercise needs of stroke and TIA sufferers.
