Hackney is a diverse and tolerant borough, but recently it has undergone rapid change, meaning there are often stark inequalities.
The Council has created a Single Equality Scheme to identify groups who may be disadvantaged and ensure services are run in a way that bring people and communities together.
The public consultation on the Single Equality Scheme is open for comments from staff and residents until 30 September 2018.
The online consultation can be accessed via www.hackney.gov.uk/equality
The Council are also organising a series of focus groups for residents at a Central Hackney location. One workshop will be open to all residents, the remaining workshops are for people with learning difficulties, council and housing association tenants and people who are Trans or Non-Binary. Participants will be awarded a £20 gift voucher.
Residents can register their interest for the workshops by following the link above, or they can e-mail email@example.com. Places are limited, and only those who are selected to attend the workshop will be awarded the £20 gift voucher.
